Honest Review of Chanel Slingbacks

Updated: Mar 6, 2022

Welcome to another review on my blog, Sipping My Cosmo! I hope you are sipping your cosmo reading this, as I'm sipping mine writing (jk jk it's 11 am & I'm sipping my coffee. anyway--)

Today, we are reviewing the classic and timeless Chanel slingback heels. I will be showing two pairs from my collection.

I have been obsessed with Chanel's slingback style ever since I first saw a pair many many years ago but wasn't sure if it was right for me at first. I didn't know if I could wear it often or style it well. After purchasing not only one, but two pairs from Chanel, (& thinking of getting more...) I have seen that this is a must have heel for every women's wardrobe.

𝐂𝐨𝐬𝐭:

They are currently retailing for $925 plus tax. However, some can go up to $1,275 depending on the material.

𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐭:

I have bought my first pair two years ago and wore it quite a decent of times. I have worn it casually during the day & dressy during the night. It feels very comfortable to wear for the first few hours. However, I would say after wearing it for 5+ hours, the shoe does start to become a little uncomfortable. In fact, it has caused blisters quite a few times. As with any heel, as long as you're not planning on walking around NYC all day, I would say it's comfortable enough. It is also a narrow style so if you have wider feet I'm not sure the shoe will be too comfortable for you. In this case, flat version might be more for you!

𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐫:

I had initially purchased the beige pair but after seeing the black tweed option, I knew I had to exchange it. After a year of wearing the black tweed pair, I realized there was always an itch to go back and purchase the classic beige as well... so I did. I have worn both pairs for casual & dressy looks so I can't say I prefer one over the other. You really can't go wrong with any color you choose for this classic style.

𝐒𝐢𝐳𝐞:

I went for my normal size but if you have wider feet, I would recommend you to size up. I did not find the shoe to stretch over time so I would say it was true to size.

𝐖𝐞𝐚𝐫:

I wore the tweed pair for over two years and haven't noticed any wear. I do take good care of my shoes every time I wear them but I think regardless of how much I walked in them, the shoe has proved to be durable. The beige pair, on the other hand, is goatskin and has shown slight creases on the sides but I would say that's expected & normal wear and tear.

𝐀𝐯𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲:

I do not think this style of shoe is hard to find/get. However, the tweed pair was a seasonal color so it's not sold at the boutiques anymore. The beige pair is in the classic collection so it will be available every season, as of now.

𝐖𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐩𝐮𝐫𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐬𝐞:

I bought the black tweed pair from Saks and the classic beige pair directly from the Chanel store.

For either store, it's not possible to buy this pair online. However, for buying from the Chanel store, you can place any order over the phone as long as you have purchase history with them.

𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧:

If you're looking for a chic, classic, timeless pair of heels, this is exactly what you're looking for. It's very easy to style regardless of the color you pick and does elevate every outfit. It can be worn up with a little black dress & down with a pair of jeans. It's a relatively comfortable pair to walk in. In terms of wear and tear, it's durable as long as worn with care. I am not someone who advocates "babying" each item to prevent every little scratch. I think material goods are meant to be enjoyed. But, of course with good care, their longevity does increase, which I think is important as this is not a cheap pair of heels. Overall, I'm very glad to have added both of these pairs to my collection and can't wait to purchase a few colors in the flat version.
